Suriya Loganathan (born July 7, 1990 in Pudukkottai , Tamil Nadu ) is an Indian athlete who specializes in long-distance running.

Athletic career

Suriya Loganathan gained her first international experience at the Indoor Asian Games 2009 in Hanoi , where she finished sixth in the 3000 meter run in 9: 51.19 minutes . Two years later she took part in the Asian Championships in Kobe over 5000 meters and reached ninth place in 17: 19.44 min. At the Asian Indoor Championships in Hangzhou the following year she came eighth over 3000 meters and at the Asian Championships in Pune 2013 she was seventh over 10,000 meters in 34: 43.67 minutes. Four years later she took part again in the Asian Championships in Bhubaneswar and was there in the 5000-meter run , as well as over 10,000 meters in fourth. In 2018 she took part in the Commonwealth Games in the Australian Gold Coast for the first time and was 13th over 10,000 meters. At the end of August, he participated in the Asian Games in Jakarta , where he was fifth over 5000 meters and sixth over 10,000 meters.

In 2012, 2013 and 2015 Loganathan became Indian champion in the 10,000 meter run and in 2012 and 2013 also over 5000 meters. Her adoptive brother Govindan Lakshmanan is also a successful Indian athlete, with whom she also trains together.
