Susan Sackett
Susan Sackett (* 18th December 1943 in New York City , New York ) is an American author who for their involvement in Star Trek - franchise is known.
Life
Sackett was born in New York City, raised in Connecticut , and moved to Florida after graduating from Hillhouse High School in New Haven . There she received at the University of Florida in Gainesville 1964 her Bachelor of Arts and 1965 a Master of Education . After teaching at a primary school in Miami for two years, she moved to Los Angeles . There she practiced her profession only for a short time, quit it and switched to the entertainment industry, where she worked for the National Broadcasting Company for four years .
From 1974 she worked with Gene Roddenberry , the creator of Star Trek , and was seen in the 1988 episode The Neutral Zone of Starship Enterprise - The Next Century . Until Roddenberry's death in 1991, she was his personal assistant to the management for 17 years. She was also a production assistant for the first Star Trek film and worked closely with Roddenberry on the next five Star Trek films. In addition, she was a production assistant for the first five seasons of Star Trek: The Next Century .
Sackett and her writing partner, Fred Bronson, co-wrote the scripts for The Ladies Troy (1990) and Dangerous Gambling Addiction (1991) of Star Trek: The Next Century . She also wrote three books on Star Trek during her time as Roddenberry's assistant: Letters to Star Trek (1977), Star Trek Speaks! (1979) and The Making of Star Trek: The Motion Picture (1980, with Gene Roddenberry). Another book, Star Trek: The First 25 Years (1991), co-authored by Gene Roddenberry, was bought by Pocket Books but not published due to the publisher's legal involvement. Instead, it became the basis for the 1994 book Star Trek: 'Where No One Has Gone Before': A History in Pictures by JM Dillard. In 1993 Billboard Books published Sackett's Prime-Time Hits , followed in 1995 by Hollywood Sings! . In 2002, her controversial book Inside Trek: My Secret Life with Star Trek Creator Gene Roddenberry was published, which tells of her decade and a half romantic and intimate relationship with her mentor .
She is also the author of other books related to the film and television industry, such as You Can Be a Game Show Contestant and Win! (1982, co-author Cheryl Blythe). Following her own instructions, which she wrote down in this book, Sackett played on the television quiz show Jeopardy! with and won $ 10,000. Along with Blythe, Sackett also co-wrote the 1986 book Say Goodnight, Gracie! - The Story of Burns and Allen .
From 2000 to 2010, Sackett was President of the Humanist Society of Greater Phoenix.
