Susanne von Almassy , also Susanne Almassy and Suzanne Almassy (born June 15, 1916 in Vienna ; † February 16, 2009 there ; born Susanne Emilie Henrietta Marie von Almássy ) was an Austrian actress .

Life

Coming from the old Hungarian military nobility, she received her acting training after graduating from the State Academy for Music and Performing Arts in Vienna. She made her debut in 1937 in Minna von Barnhelm . In 1938 she got an engagement at the Gera Theater , after which she played in Chemnitz . In Hamburg she acted at both the Thalia Theater and the Deutsches Schauspielhaus .

In 1946 she returned to Vienna, where she appeared at the Kammerspiele , the Volkstheater , the Theater an der Wien , the Burgtheater and especially the Theater in der Josefstadt . Her specialty was the portrayal of elegant seductresses in tabloids , but also in classics and musicals. She soon got similar roles in film . As Ms. von Seewald in 1948, she confused the title character played by Hans Moser in Der Herr Kanzleirat , and she was the cause of that disturbance in The Disturbed Wedding Night (1950).

Among other things, she was also on stage in Munich , Basel and Zurich . Until the 1970s, she played in film productions alongside stars such as OW Fischer , Curd Jürgens and Hans Moser.

Chamber actress Susanne von Almassy, ​​who was awarded the Kainz Medal in 1970 and the Austrian Cross of Honor for Science and Art 1st Class in 1999, has been an honorary member and doyenne of the theater in der Josefstadt since 1994 and is married to the actor Rolf Kutschera .

Susanne Almassy was buried on February 25, 2009 in the Vienna Central Cemetery (group 40, number 77) in an honorary grave of the City of Vienna.
