Susanne Asche

Susanne Asche (born November 18, 1955 in Paderborn ) has a doctorate in literature , is an author and has been head of the Karlsruhe Cultural Office since 2008 .

Life

Susanne Asche studied German, history and social studies at the Philippis University in Marburg . She did her doctorate on the literature of German Romanticism . In Hamburg , she completed her legal traineeship to become a grammar school teacher. She received teaching assignments at the literary and historical seminars of the universities in Hamburg, Karlsruhe and Tübingen . Since 1987 she has worked as a historian in the Karlsruhe city archive . In 1998 she became director of the Pfinzgau Museum of Urban History and deputy director of the Institute for Urban History in Karlsruhe. From April 2003 she headed the Department of Culture in Offenburg , where she initiated and designed the Offenburg European Translator Prize, which is awarded by the City of Offenburg together with the Hubert Burda Foundation . In her role as head of the Culture Department in Offenburg, she was also the managing director of the Translation Prize. During her time as head of the Department of Culture, the Salmen Discussions were introduced, in which experts discuss current issues of democracy development with the Offenburg residents every two years. The Salmen in Offenburg was the inn in which the Baden Revolution was proclaimed in 1847 , later it housed a synagogue and is now an event location.

Since 2008 Susanne Asche has been head of the cultural office of the city of Karlsruhe. There, together with the employees of the cultural office and with the participation of the Karlsruhe cultural institutions and the independent cultural scene, she developed the first cultural concept of the city of Karlsruhe, which was unanimously adopted by the municipal council in 2014 and is strongly influenced by participation. The culture concept 2025 names the guidelines and fields of action to promote art, culture and education in Karlsruhe.

In Karlsruhe she has a seat on the board of trustees of the Center for Art and Media (ZKM) and works on the administrative board of the Badisches Staatstheater .

She is u. a. Second chairwoman of the Association Women & History Baden-Württemberg and chairwoman of the working group of cultural offices in the Baden-Württemberg City Council .
