Susanne Dagen
Susanne Dagen (* 1972 in Dresden ) is a German bookseller and local politician for the Free Voters in Dresden.
Book trade
Dagen and her partner Michael Bormann have been running the BuchHaus Loschwitz since 1995 , a bookstore in Dresden- Loschwitz that not only sells books but also offers events in the KulturHaus Loschwitz . Dagen annually publishes the literary Dresden calendar and poetry publications for poet in residence ; for the latter, she has been on the jury for the award of the poetry scholarship since 2013. In 2015 and 2016, BuchHaus Loschwitz won the German Bookstore Award in the category of particularly outstanding bookstores . The reading series Aufgeblättert has also been broadcast on YouTube since May 2018 . Strike - Read with rights , moderated by Dagen together with Ellen Kositza from neurechte Verlag Antaios .
Right activism
Article in the magazine Der Spiegel in May 2016 and in the weekly newspaper Die Zeit in March 2017 described Dagen as “ pegida -nah”. Dagen supports the demands of Pegida and represents positions critical of Islam himself . In response to disruptions at the Antaios-Verlag stand at the Frankfurt Book Fair , she initiated the “Charter 2017” in October 2017, in which she accused the Börsenverein des Deutschen Buchhandels of setting a “corridor of convictions” and criticized that “our society no longer far from a dictatorship of convictions ”. This “charter” was signed, among others, by the writers Cora Stephan and Uwe Tellkamp as well as the journalists Vera Lengsfeld and Matthias Matussek .
In March 2018, Dagen was appointed to the board of trustees of the AfD-affiliated Desiderius Erasmus Foundation , to which she was a member until she ran for free voters in the city council. In September 2018, Dagen was informed of the participation in a workshop on the subject of “Echo chambers and filter bubbles: networking via social media” as part of the conference “The new center? Right Ideologies and Movements in Europe ”in the German Hygiene Museum Dresden excluded. In response to Dagen's lawsuit, the Dresden Regional Court ruled that the exclusion was illegal, but did not award her any monetary compensation .
Since September 2019 she has been a member of the Dresden City Council and the District Council of Dresden-Loschwitz for the Free Voters .
Personal
Dagen's mother was an art historian at the Staatliche Kunstsammlungen Dresden and worked as a gallery owner in the state art trade, her father a chemist from Croatia. Dagen has two daughters and lives in Dresden.
