Susanne Hartmann (born July 23, 1970 in Wil SG , Canton St. Gallen ) is a Swiss politician ( CVP ) and lawyer .

education

Hartmann graduated from the Wattwil Cantonal School before training as a primary school teacher. She then taught from 1993 to 1995 as a primary school teacher. In 1996 she began studying law at the University of Zurich , which she successfully completed in 2002. From 2003 to 2007 she was a clerk at the district court of Untertoggenburg-Gossau, then until 2012 a lawyer at the civil engineering department of the building department of the Canton of Zurich .

Political career

Hartmann launched her political career early on. From 1994 to 1998 she was on the board of the Junge CVP of the canton of St. Gallen . From 1996 to 2004 she was also represented on the board of the CVP women of the canton of St. Gallen. From 1996 to 2008 Hartmann was also the party leader of the CVP of the canton of St. Gallen .

In 2012, Wil Hartmann elected first city ​​president in the second ballot . In doing so, she followed in the footsteps of her father Josef Hartmann, who was mayor of Wil until 2000.

In March 2020 Susanne Hartmann was elected to the St. Gallen government in the first ballot to replace Benedikt Würth, who was elected to the Council of States .

With her election as government councilor, she submitted her resignation as Wiler city president at the end of May 2020.
