Susanne Weirich (* 1962 in Unna ) is a contemporary German artist. Her work includes conceptual art , photography and installations . Susanne Weirich lives and works in Berlin.

life and work

Since 1991 she has taught at various institutions such as the TU Berlin and the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena , California. From 2000 to 2006 she was a professor at the Hamburg University of Fine Arts . For 2008/2009 she was appointed as a visiting professor at the Art Academy Berlin-Weißensee . Since 2011 she has been professor for three-dimensional design and media at the Institute for Art and Art Studies at the University of Duisburg-Essen ; since 2012 visiting professor at the Chengdu Academy of Fine Arts, PR China .

In her interdisciplinary work, Susanne Weirich often makes use of photography and video. Again and again she develops installation forms with which she narratively thematizes order structures and the interplay of reality and fiction. For years she has been present in international group and solo exhibitions - u. a .: The XX. Century in the Hamburger Bahnhof in Berlin; The luck prophecy machine in the Haus der Kunst in Munich; Playrooms in the Lehmbruck Museum in Duisburg; You won't feel a thing at the WYSPA Institute , Gdańsk; The Word Cloud in the Edith Ruß House for Media Art in Oldenburg; The small retrospective at the Kunsthaus Zürich and MAN SON 1969. Susanne Weirich is a member of the German Association of Artists . In 2003 she was one of the 40 participants in the DKB project exhibition Herbarium of Glances , which was shown in the Bundeskunsthalle in Bonn.
