Their only son Bruce Jr. was born shortly after the marriage to the child father Bruce Somers. Three years later, she left her husband and started working as a model. In 1971 her son was seriously injured in a car accident.

Her acting career began with smaller roles in the 1960s (for example a guest appearance on Lassie in 1965) before she took on the role of the stupid "Chrissy Snow" in 1977 on the ABC sitcom Jack of Hearts with two women at the side of John Ritter . In the same year she married the actor Alan Hamel , whom she met in 1968 as the winner of a game show. Due to the success of the season, she got into disputes with the production company in the course of increased fee claims. After the fourth season of the sitcom, she was fired and moved to Las Vegas .

In 1980 she posed naked for Playboy . From then on, she used her slim figure in advertising for fitness products and programs.

She has been criticized for some of her publications because some of the therapies presented are rejected by medical professionals and described as "scientifically untested and dangerous".

In the summer of 2005, her attempt to start a Broadway career with the one-woman show The Blonde in the Thunderbird failed because of the harsh evaluation by the critics. The show was discontinued after a few performances.
