The Suzuki DR 350 was a commercially successful enduro from the manufacturer Suzuki . This model was built from 1990 to 1999 and has been revised several times in the course of its product life.
description
Decisive for the success of the DR 350 were the very durable engine, the very low operating weight of less than 130 kilograms (with a full tank), the manoeuvrable chassis and the low price.
The model history began in 1990 with the DR 350 S. In 1992/1993, the SH model added a hydraulic seat height adjustment (SHC - Seat Height Control). This enabled the seat height to be lowered from 890 to 840 mm using the hand wheel on the handlebar. There were also high-quality suspension elements in the form of an upside-down fork . In 1994, Suzuki replaced the successful DR 350 S / SH with the DR 350 SE for a model with an electric starter . However, the curb weight also increased noticeably. Like its competitors, the DR now weighed over 130 kg and was therefore less interesting for off-road use. In addition, for cost reasons, they were forced to equip the DR with a conventional telescopic fork again .
Nevertheless, the DR 350 is popular because of its simplicity and versatility and is considered by some to be the all-round enduro. The DR was particularly popular with many globetrotters who drove the DR through all the deserts of the world equipped with a large tank.
In the US, sold Suzuki with the models P, R and N special sport versions with 33 Mikuni - flat slide carburetor , open exhaust system and better spring elements, plastic tank and special cross-rims. The result was an even lighter motorcycle (approx. 110 kg) with even more power (up to 34 hp), which, however, never officially reached the European market due to restrictive environmental and noise emission regulations.
