The Suzuki RGV 250 Gamma is a motorcycle of the super sports category , which was manufactured from 1988 to 1997 by the Suzuki Motor Corporation .

Series

There are a total of three series, the VJ21 (1988–1990), the VJ22 (1991–1994) and the VJ23 (until 1997), but the latter was no longer offered in Germany. In terms of drive technology, the VJ21 and VJ22 are almost identical (90 ° V-motor), while the chassis shows considerable differences. The VJ22 has an upside-down fork at the front and a so-called banana swing arm at the rear , which takes into account the now one-sided arrangement of the two exhaust pipes. The VJ23 was completely redeveloped in terms of drive technology based on a 70 ° V motor.

From 1995 to 2002 the Suzuki engine of the VJ22 was also installed in the Aprilia RS 250 , although this was a direct competitor product.

The previous model, the RG 250 Gamma , was sold 52,523 times in Japan in 1983.

technology

The vehicle is powered by a water-cooled V2 two-stroke engine. The engine consumes unleaded petrol and also two-stroke oil for separate lubrication. The tank holds 17 liters, of which 5.5 liters as a reserve. A chain transfers the power to the rear wheel.

The performance of the motorcycle is 49 kW (67 HP) and the maximum torque 40 Nm (both values at a speed of 11,000 min -1 and models of the last year of construction).

There were more problems with the exhaust valves, which provide more torque in the lower speed range. A modified version was offered, but only installed after a customer complaint.
