Sven Günther (born February 22, 1974 in Zwickau ) is a former German soccer player .

Career

Günter began playing soccer in his hometown of Kirchberg and at the age of ten switched to the junior division of what was then BSG Sachsenring Zwickau . In the 1993/94 season he moved to the first team at the club, which has now been renamed FSV Zwickau, which was promoted to the 2nd Bundesliga under Gerd Schädlich . In the following four seasons, the midfielder developed into a regular and seasoned professional footballer at the traditional West Saxon club. From 1998 to 2001 he was active at 1. FC Nürnberg . In the 2001/2002 season he was under contract with 1. FC Schweinfurt 05 and moved to Eintracht Frankfurt in 2002 . From there he went to FC Erzgebirge Aue in 2004 . The midfielder went to FC Carl Zeiss Jena in 2006 and returned to FSV Zwickau in 2008, where he was signed until 2010.

At the height of his professional career, Günther played in the 1st Bundesliga , the top German division, in which he made a total of 44 appearances for the clubs 1. FC Nürnberg ( 1998/99 season ) and Eintracht Frankfurt ( 2003/04 season ).

National team

With the U-16 national team , he took part in the European Championship held in Switzerland from May 8 to 18, 1991 , and finished the tournament with her in second place after the final was lost 2-0 to the Spanish team.
