Sven Bernhard Lindqvist (born March 26, 1903 in Bromma , † January 25, 1987 in Stockholm ) was a Swedish football player and official.

Career

Lindqvist joined AIK in 1920 , for whom he played parallel to his business studies at the Stockholm School of Commerce . In 1923, the year he graduated, he won the Svenska Mästerskapet with the club , which was the sixth championship title in the club's history. In June of that year, the left winger became a national player when he made his debut over Finland in the jersey of the Swedish national team on the occasion of the 5-4 success - co-debutant Gunnar Paulsson scored three goals in the process . Without any further international appearances before the tournament, he was part of the squad for the 1924 Olympic Games the following summer . In the regular bronze match against the Netherlands he was on the field, after a 1-1 draw after extra time there was a replay the following day. Without his involvement, the Northern Europeans won the bronze medal with a 3-1 win after goals from Evert Lundquist and the two-time successful Sven Rydell .

After the introduction of the Allsvenskan as a new national league competition in 1924, Lindqvist took part with AIK in the top league in Swedish football, where he was a regular in his club. By 1931 he played in 137 first division games for AIK and scored four goals. By 1927 he also played five internationals , but remained without a goal. With his commitment in the 12-0 victory over the Latvian national team - teammate Albin Hallbäck scored six goals, Sven Rydell scored three - in May of that year he wrote himself in the history books, this is the highest victory in the history of the national team to date. In 1929 he played another B international match.

With the runner-up championship in the 1930/31 season , the best result in his active Allsvenskan career, Lindqvist said goodbye to active sport, but remained AIK in another position. From 1935 he sat on the board of the association , working full time for Paramount Pictures in Sweden since 1925 . In 1950 he switched to the club professionally and took over the newly created post of "head of administration". In this responsibility he strengthened the economic position of the club, in particular by organizing trips abroad with test matches, especially during the winter break - for example, AIK competed against Flamengo Rio de Janeiro , FC Santos and Botafogo FR in Brazil in January 1957 , but also in the summer of the year in Sweden against Juventus Turin and Arsenal - and by expanding the Råsunda stadium in the run-up to the 1958 World Cup finals . In 1961 he retired.
