Sven Gustaf Salén (born November 7, 1890 in Borås , † October 29, 1969 in Stockholm ) was a Swedish sailor .

successes

Sven Salén, who sailed for the Kungliga Svenska Segelsällskapet , took part in two Olympic Games in the 6-meter class . In 1936 he was the skipper of May Be at the Berlin Games and scored 62 total points with two wins in seven races. The May Be , whose crew consisted of Torsten Lord , Lennart Ekdahl , Martin Hindorff and his wife Dagmar Salén , finished the regatta taking place in the Olympic harbor in Düsternbrook in Kiel in third place behind Great Britain and Norway. In 1952 he sailed in Helsinki on the May Be VII , but this time just missed another medal in fourth place.

As early as 1927, Salén received the Svenska Dagbladet gold medal after winning the Gold Cup in the 6 meter class. From 1922 to 1962 he was managing director of the Salén shipping company he founded himself.
