Svend-Erik Nørregaard

Svend-Erik Nørregaard (born February 6, 1941 in Copenhagen ; † December 23, 2002 ) was a Danish jazz and entertainment musician (drums).

Live and act

Nørregaard became interested in jazz during his time as a trainee in a paint shop; at the age of 15 he was already playing drums in Jørn Grauengaard's orchestra as an autodidact . In 1960 he became a professional musician; initially he worked with Frank Jensen in Sweden until 1965, and then worked again in Jørn Grauengaard's orchestra until 1975 . Until 1977 he was part of Poul Godske's band . Then he worked as a studio musician , but accompanied a large number of international musicians such as Dexter Gordon , Eddie Lockjaw Davis , Warne Marsh , Buddy Tate , Harry Sweets Edison , Wild Bill Davison , Dizzy Gillespie , Thad Jones or Clark Terry freelance , with whom he partially also recorded. In the film Johnny Larsen (1979) by Morten Arnfred , Nørregaard played a supporting role as a musician. From 1982 to 1984 he belonged to Raageleje Jazz . He also performed with the Kansas City Stompers , Jesper Thilos Band and Niels Jørgen Steens The A-Team . He also accompanied Poul Dissing and Benny Andersen regularly .

Nørregaard was awarded the 1997 Ben Webster Prize .
