Sylvia Veit

Sylvia Veit (born June 26, 1977 in Weimar ) is a German administrative scientist and professor at the University of Kassel . Her main research interests are administrative reforms and public management , administrative and institutional policy, executives in the public sector, and knowledge in politics and administration.

Life

Veit attended the Georgius-Agricola-Gymnasium in Glauchau , which she graduated from high school in 1996 as the best of the year . She had spent the 1993/94 school year as an exchange student at Fagerlia Videregående Skole in Ålesund .

From 1997 to 2003 she studied political science at the University of Potsdam and the Free University of Berlin with minor subjects in economics and law, and graduated with honors as a political scientist. From 2004 to 2008 Veit was a PhD scholarship holder at the Graduate School of Modern Governance at the University of Potsdam. In 2009 she did her doctorate on the subject of "Better regulation through impact assessments? An analysis of implementation differences in Germany and Sweden from a neo-institutionalist perspective" with the grade magna cum laude with Werner Jann at the University of Potsdam.

From 2007 to 2011 Veit was a research assistant at the Chair of Political Science, Administration and Organization at the University of Potsdam, and from 2008 to 2009 she was also a research assistant at the Environmental Policy Research Center at the Free University of Berlin . From 2011 to 2013 she represented the professorship for administrative science at the Otto-Friedrich-Universität Bamberg . From 2013 to 2014 she returned as a postdoc to the Chair of Political Science, Administration and Organization at the University of Potsdam. In 2014 she was appointed to the professorship for Public Management at the University of Kassel , where, among other things, she heads the Master of Public Administration course . In 2018 she was visiting professor at Victoria University of Wellington .

Since 2018, Veit and Thurid Hustedt have been the publisher of the magazine der moderne sta .

Veit is married and has three children, for whom she took parental leave in 2003/04, 2006, 2010/11 and 2017.

Memberships

Veit is a member of the German section of the International Institute for Administrative Sciences , the International Center for Higher Education Research Kassel , the International Political Science Association , and the International Public Policy Association .

She is a member of the spokesperson for the Policy Analysis and Administrative Science section of the German Political Science Association .
