The Turnverein 1861 Marktsteft e. V. is now a multi-discipline sports club in the Lower Franconian municipality of Marktsteft .
history
The club was founded in 1861 as a pure gymnastics club and the club flag was consecrated just a year later. During the Franco-German War 1870 / 1871 almost ceased activities and until 1896 revived. Club life also came to a standstill during the two world wars. The handball department was launched in the mid-1920s and on October 14, 1928 , the TV Marktsteft took part in a ceremony for Friedrich Ludwig Jahn with a delegation when he was given a place of honor in the Walhalla near Regenstauf . In the post-war period, handball in the club took a significant boom in the 1960s, which continues to the present day.
