Location and surroundings

The Tabarettaspitze lies on the Tabarettakamm , a mountain ridge from the Ortler ( 3905  m ) towards the north. In the west is the Trafoital , in the east the mountain slopes down to the Suldental with 500 meter high cliffs . To the north of the summit is the Payerhütte at 3029  m , the most important base when climbing the Ortler. East below the Tabarettaspitze is at 2556  m the Tabaretta that serves as a base for the ascent of Tabarettaspitze from the east.

ways

The well-traveled normal route to the Ortler leads just below the peak through the west side of the Tabarettaspitze. However, the summit itself is rarely climbed. It is easy to climb in about 15 to 20 minutes from the Payerhütte via the north ridge . The west ridge ( I / UIAA ), the south ridge (II) and the east wall (III) are a little more difficult. Other climbing routes on the east side are the Direct East Face (III) and the Direct Northeast Face (IV +). The most popular ascent is the Tabaretta via ferrata (difficulty E), which is one of the most difficult alpine via ferratas in Europe. However, it does not lead all the way to the summit, but meets the Ortler normal route on the north ridge.
