The Tabarettahütte ( Italian Rifugio Tabaretta ) is a private refuge in the Ortler Alps in South Tyrol . It is located at an altitude of 2556 m on the northern drop of the Ortler , below the Tabarettascharte west of Sulden .
The Tabarettahütte, located in the Stilfserjoch National Park today , was built in 1894 by the owner of the Ortlerhof in Sulden, Alois Schöpf. The hut was owned by the family for a long time, but it gradually fell into disrepair and was finally no longer managed. In 1977 the hut was sold and renovated by the new owners.
As an alternative to the Payerhütte, it is an important base for the Ortler normal route . However, it is of particular importance for tours through the north face of the Ortler , the wall book of which is available in the Tabarettahütte. Furthermore, a via ferrata ( difficulty E ) leads from the hut to the 3128 m high Tabarettaspitze , which is one of the most difficult via ferratas in Europe.
