history

The first hut was built in 1887 and inaugurated in 1888 under the name Rifugio Cedè . After this building was destroyed during the First World War , it was restored in 1924 and rebuilt in 1926 by a group of friends of the famous Milanese alpinist Luigi E. Pizzini and named after him. This group of friends gave the hut to the Milan Section of the CAI and arranged for a renovation and expansion in 1948, as well as the construction of an outbuilding in 1963, which their association gave the name Zeledria .

After the financing of another renovation by Mary Frattola, the name of the hut was extended to include the names of her husband Carlo, an alpine general , and her son Augusto, a well-known alpinist.

Today's Rifugio Pizzini is operated by the Milan section of the CAI and offers 135 guests space. It has been equipped with running hot water, central heating and a sauna since 2002. Since the mountains around the hut are a popular ski touring area, the Rifugio Pizzini is open from March to May in spring and from mid-June to around the end of September during the normal summer season.
