The Höchst Hut ( Italian Rifugio Canziani ) - also Grünseehütte  - is a refuge in the Ortler Alps in South Tyrol .

Location and surroundings

The Höchst hut is located at 2560  m above sea level at the upper end of the Ulten Valley right next to the Grünsee . The closest village is St. Gertraud , which belongs to the municipality of Ulten .

The normal route leads from the hut to the Hinteren Eggenspitze in the west . To the northwest you get to the Zufrittspitze and further into the Martell valley . On the way to the south you can about the Blacker yoke the Trentino reach.

history

The hut was built in 1909 by the DuÖAV section Höchst am Main . After during the First World War had been destroyed, she was from the CAI -Sektion Milan rebuilt and named after the ski mountaineers Umberto Canziani. Due to the damming of the Grünsee in the 1950s, the hut had to be moved to a slightly higher location.
