Tahira (born February 6, 2010 ) is a German racehorse that runs flat races. The mare was among the top 30 German horses in the 2013 ranking. She was one of the best 3-year-old mares in Germany.

Pedigree

Tahira was born on February 6, 2010 in Saxony at Ralf Paulick's stud and was raised there. The owners were Uwe Deikert and Thomas John (also breeders), who operated under the code name “Stall Memory”, and she was owned there even before Tahira's birth. She was trained by Uwe Stech in Hoppegarten. The mother is the non-run Tennessee Queen, the father is Doyen ( Gestüt Auenquelle ), the European Champion (2004) and winner of the King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Stakes (2004).

Races and achievements

At the age of two she came to Uwe Stech's racing team in Hoppegarten and was trained there. Because it was not certain whether she was precocious , she only made her debut on April 21, 2013 at the Hoppegarten horse racing track in the prize of the owners' association for thoroughbred breeding and races over a distance of 1800 m with Koen Clijmans in the saddle. In her first race she finished fourth out of seven participants.

On May 4, 2013, she was second behind Nordvulkan in the Heinz Jentzsch Memorial Race on the Dresden-Seidnitz horse racing track (which later came third in the German Derby ). The distance was 1900 m and was ridden by jockey Jozef Bojko .

On May 20, 2013, she started in the R + V Trophy of the R + V Insurance Group race on the Neue Bult race track in Hanover over 1750 m. A total of 10 horses started. In the saddle was Koen Clijmans, who rode Tahira on his debut in Hoppegarten. Shortly before the finish line, Tahira caught up with Antonella, who was still in the lead, which brought her to first place.

After her first victory, she started at the Prix MIR in Düsseldorf on June 12, 2013 with 13 more horses over 1700 m. She was ridden by Koen Clijmans. Until the finish line she was in last place, but was able to overtake other horses and was second behind Ocean Tiger with a head length.

Next she started at the Derby Meeting (the most important horse racing meeting in Germany) on July 7, 2013 in Hamburg in the Hapag-Lloyd race , a BBAG auction race endowed with € 52,000 . 13 horses with a very high level of performance started this race, Tahira was ridden by Eduardo Pedroza . Again the race was decided on the 500 m home straight: Tahira was able to make up 11 places and won by half a length ahead of Turfjäger.

Tahira will then start her first list race on September 1, 2013 , the Berenberg Bank Cup in Baden-Baden , which is endowed with € 20,000 . She was ridden by Jozef Bojko . In this race she finished fifth, three lengths behind the winner.

On September 29, 2013, she competed in the Jungheinrich Forklift Grand Prix , a € 52,000 BBAG auction race (2000 m) in Hanover . Jozef Bojko was back in the saddle. Tahira didn't give the Erlkönig (with Andrasch Starke ) a chance and won the race. Third was the later group ΙΙΙ winner Nausica Time.

She ended 2013 with a GAG of 89.5 kg and was among the top 30 in the German horse ranking.

Sale to England

In 2013 Tahira was sold to England. After her last race in Germany in 2013, she had a GAG of 89.5 kg and thus had the quality to run in Blacktype races . The new owner is Carl Hinchy. Tahira is trained by JJ Quinn. Since, according to Uwe Stech, she is difficult to deal with, her performance in England has deteriorated. She lacks the daily paddock , which is not common in England. After another coaching change, her performance improved tremendously and she won at the list level.
