Tajik Air (formerly Tajikistan Airlines ) is the state-owned airline of Tajikistan based in Dushanbe and based at Dushanbe Airport . Together with Dushanbe Airport, it was part of the Aviation Company of Tajikistan OSHC.
The eighth oldest airline in the world temporarily ceased operations in January 2019. In December 2019, international flights with a Boeing 767 were offered again.
history
The origins of the airline lay in the regional corporate division of Aeroflot , founded on September 3, 1924 , which began its first flight from Bukhara to Dushanbe with a Junkers F 13 . In 1991 Aeroflot was split up, with its departments being made independent. This resulted in the newly founded Tajikistan Airlines . In 2007 the company was renamed Tajik Air and was the flag carrier of the country until the provisional cessation of operations in January 2019 .
Destinations
Tajik Air mainly served destinations in Central Asia . In Europe , Istanbul was served . Flights to Moscow and Delhi have been available since December 2019 .

In the past, Tajik Air also operated the Antonov An-28 , Boeing 737-800 , Boeing 747-SP , Tupolev Tu-134 , Mil Mi-8 , Tupolev Tu-154M, and Lockheed L-1011 TriStar .
Incidents
- On June 17, 1993, an Antonov An-26 crashed during the flight from Batumi in Georgia to Baku in Azerbaijan after it got into turbulence. All 33 inmates died.
- On August 28, 1993, fighters forced a 32-passenger Jakowlew Jak-40 ( registration EJ-87995 ) to fill up with 81 people. The crew was given the choice of being shot on the spot or flying the aircraft. As a result, the Jak-40 shot over the runway. 82 people were killed in the accident (two people died of their injuries later in the hospital) and four passengers were injured.
