Takashi Ochi ( Japanese 越 智 敬 , Ochi Takashi ; born October 30, 1934 in Imabari ; † November 14, 2010 in Heppenheim , Hessen ) was a German - Japanese mandolin player and instrumental teacher .

Life

Takashi Ochi was born on October 30, 1934 in Imabari , Japan . He received his first mandolin lessons at the age of 13. From 1954 he studied the foreign languages ​​Italian and English as well as economics at the Foreign Language University Tokyo . At the same time he completed an 8-semester course at the Hiruma Private Conservatory in Tokyo with the main instruments mandolin and guitar . After the concert qualification examination, he followed a three-year pedagogical training course as an instrumental teacher at the same conservatory. After graduating, he spent several years at Hiruma Conservatory as a lecturer for mandolin and guitar act. In addition, he gave numerous concerts as a soloist and with various Japanese orchestras and took part in the production of several radio and television recordings.

In 1961, through the mediation of Siegfried Behrend , Takashi Ochi came to Germany and lived for many years in Saarlouis in the Saarland . In 1966 he married the German Silvia Körner. Since 1973 he had German citizenship . Ochi had lived in Heppenheim since 1977 . From 1977 until his retirement in 1999 he worked at the Mannheim City Music School as a group leader for plucked instruments. In addition, he was a regular lecturer at the Federal Academy for Musical Youth Education in Trossingen and at numerous seminars throughout Germany. Ochi was also regularly engaged as a juror in national and international competitions, for example Jugend musiziert .

Takashi Ochi died on November 14, 2010 in Heppenheim, his adopted home.

Artistic work

From 1961 Takashi Ochi worked as a freelance music teacher at several Saarland music schools and worked as a lecturer in master courses of the Federation for Plucked and Folk Music Saar (BZVS) and the Federation of German Plucked Musicians . From 1961 to 1974 he was concertmaster and soloist of the Saarland plucking orchestra (headed by Siegfried Behrend ) and from 1968 to 1990 of the German plucking orchestra (also under the direction of Behrend). During this time he also worked closely with the harpsichordist and organist Wilhelm Krumbach , with whom he recorded several hundred chamber music works for the Saarland Radio . He accompanied well-known singers such as Hermann Prey , Edith Mathis and Ingeborg Hallstein and played under conductors such as Karl Ristenpart , Hans Zender , Paul Angerer , Bruno Maderna and others. a. Together with his wife, who is also a mandolinist, Ochi has given concerts in almost all European countries and several times in Japan. His discography includes over 40 records and CDs that have been released by Philips, Thorophon, Avanta, HMS, Deutsche Grammophon, Polydor and some Japanese and Italian labels.
