Valley (desert)

The valley ( French : désert de Tal or désert du Tal ) is a sandy desert in southeastern Niger .

Administratively, the desert belongs to the department of N'Guigmi in the Diffa region . It lies on the edge of the Manga landscape and about ten kilometers east of the former shores of Lake Chad . The town of N'Guigmi is located in the narrow strip in between . The Kadzell plain extends south of the valley . The valley of Dilia ends at its western edge .

The white sand desert valley, as Erg a foothills of the Sahara , is more recent. It was created in the 19th century or a little earlier by wind erosion . Their northeast-southwest orientation reflects the prevailing wind direction. Among the few encountered here plant species belongs Stipagrostis vulnerans from the family of grasses .

The desert is the namesake of the state television program Tal TV and the multiethnic music group Tal National .
