Tal Rosenzweig (* 1967 in Tel Aviv , Israel ), known by his pseudonym Tal R , is a Danish artist.

Life

Tal Rosenzweig was born in Israel during the Six Day War to a Danish mother and a Czech father. The family moved to Denmark half a year later. Tal R studied from 1986 to 1988 at the Copenhagen Billedskolen a. a. with Erik Steffensen . From 1991 and 1993 he worked as a teacher at the Nut Cracker-Art School in Copenhagen. He then began studying at the Danish Royal Academy of Fine Arts in 1994 , which he finished in 2000. In the same year he was visiting professor at the Helsinki Art Academy. In 2001 Tal R received a studio grant from the city of Mönchengladbach . In 2003 he was a visiting professor at the Hamburg University of Fine Arts . Tal R has been teaching a master class for painting at the Düsseldorf Art Academy since 2005 . His works have been shown in various group exhibitions as well as in solo exhibitions in Denmark, the USA, Germany, Israel and Great Britain. In 2009 Tal R arranged his works according to his own curatorial concept in the Kunsthalle zu Kiel and the Kunsthalle Tübingen .

Tal R worked a. a. together with Jonathan Meese and Daniel Richter . In addition to Kaspar Kaum Bonnén, Kirstine Roepstorff and John Kørner, Tal R is a member of the artist collective Kørners Kontor.

Tal R works with gallery owners Nicole Hackert and Bruno Brunnet from the Contemporary Fine Arts Gallery.

Works

In his works such as paintings , collages and installations , Tal R often uses elements from music , comic book aesthetics, TV and old video game graphics. Tal R himself describes his works as Kolbojnik , according to his own statements, a Yiddish word used in the kibbutzim for the common garbage can (the literal meaning would be something like "know-it-all", "clever guy").
