The Hněvkovice dam is located on the Vltava River in the Czech Republic and is part of the Vltava Cascade .
history
The structure, erected from 1986 to 1991, is about four kilometers as the crow flies south of the town of Týn nad Vltavou in the Okres České Budějovice . The in storage villages Buzkov, Jaroslavice and Pardo Vice were doing mostly dissolved. The main purpose of the dam is to ensure that the Temelín nuclear power plant is supplied with cooling water. This is about five kilometers west of the plant. In addition, the system is used for power generation and flood protection.
Dam
The dam is a gravity dam . It dams the river to a lake several kilometers long, which, in addition to the operation, also serves as a recreation area.
Water withdrawal
The main purpose of the plant is to ensure the supply of cooling water to the Temelín nuclear power plant . This is about five kilometers west of the plant. The water is fed into the power plant via two 6.2 km long underground pipelines. The pipes have a diameter of 1.6 m and take an average of 1.625 m³ / s from the Vltava. The cooling water used is returned to the river downstream at the Kořensko barrage . In order to guarantee the supply of the nuclear power plant, the water level must not be below 365 m. ü. M be lowered.
power plant
The power station is in the western part of the wall. It is equipped with two Kaplan turbines with a diameter of 2.4 m each. With a height of fall between 9.3 m and 14.8 m, they each generate up to 4.7 MW.
Flood overflow
In the middle of the dam there are three flood relief systems . They are each twelve meters wide and equipped with 7 m high segment weirs . Together they are able to discharge 1011 m³ / s.
lock
There is a lock on the east side . The pool is 45 m long and 6 m wide. The plant is theoretically designed for ships up to 300 t, but is currently not expanded for operation.
