The Kamýk hydropower plant is located on the Vltava near the Czech town of Kamýk nad Vltavou and is part of the Vltava Cascade .
The hydroelectric power station was built at the same time as the Orlík Dam , ten kilometers upstream . The system at Kamýk serves mainly to buffer the irregular flow of the dam and to achieve a steady flow of water. In addition to this function, the plant is also used to supply drinking water and generate electricity.
The dam consists of a weight dam . Four pressure segment weirs with a width of 18 m each are integrated in the dam . Up to 2000 m³ of water per second can be discharged via the four weirs. The hydropower plant in the northern part of the plant has a maximum output of 48 MW .
