Tan Liangde

Tan Liangde ( Chinese  譚良德  /  谭良德 , Pinyin Tán Liángdé , Jyutping Tam 4 Leung 4 Dak 1 ; born July 14, 1965 in Maoming ) is a former Chinese diver . He took part in three Olympic Games and won a silver medal each.

Career

Tan Liangde studied at the Guangdong Sports College . He took part in the 1984 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles . Tan started the competition from the three-meter board and was able to win the silver medal behind the American Greg Louganis . Four years later, at the 1988 Summer Olympics in Seoul , there was another duel between Tan and Louganis, which ended with the same result as in 1984. Tan Liangde again won silver with 704.88 points behind the American who won with 730.80 points. In Barcelona , Tan took part in the Olympic Games for the last time at the 1992 Summer Olympics. Again he won silver from the three-meter board. This time behind the American Mark Lenzi . At the 1986 World Swimming Championships in Madrid and at the 1991 World Swimming Championships in Perth , Tan Liangde also won two silver medals from the three-meter board.

After his playing career, Tan Liangde became a coach in Tianjin . He looks after the Olympic champions Hu Jia and Wang Xin , among others . He works with his wife Li Qing , who was also a successful water diver.
