The rock grave with the stele front

The rock tomb of Tana di Lu Mazzoni (also called Tomba a prospetto architettonico Tana di Lu Mazzoni ) is a rock tomb with a front stele ( Italian Domus a prospetto architettonico ) near Stintino in Logudoro in the province of Sassari in Sardinia .

Tana di Lu Mazzoni is one of only about 50 examples (e.g. Molafa , Sa Figu , Sos Furrighesos ) of a prehistoric rock tomb with a front stele carved into the rock, as is otherwise typical for the giant tombs on the island. The approximately 4.0 m high stele shows only faint traces of a carved portal similar to the stelae of the giant graves of Imbertighe and Santu Bainzu .

Orthostat graves (actually orthostats imitating graves) are more common in the limestone areas of Logudoro : Campu Luntanu , Sa Rocca and Su Lampu , Su Carralzu (both near Florinas), Mesu 'e Montes and Sas Puntas .
