Tanja Jeschke
Tanja Jeschke (born September 22, 1964 in Pretoria ) is a German writer and literary critic.
life and work
Tanja Jeschke spent the first five years of her life in South Africa until the family moved to Germany in the Lüneburg Heath . After graduating from high school , she studied German and Protestant theology at the Georg August University of Göttingen and the Ruprecht Karls University of Heidelberg , where she completed a master's thesis on Jurek Becker's novel Jakob the Liar .
After traveling through South Africa and Namibia , Tanja Jeschke wrote essays and literary reviews for various magazines (including literaturblatt, neue deutsche literature , Zeitzeichen ) and newspapers (including Nürnberger Nachrichten , Passauer Neue Presse , Stuttgarter Zeitung and Süddeutsche Zeitung ). From 1988 to 1991 she was a member of the editorial board of the Lutheran monthly magazine , one of the predecessor titles of Zeitzeichen . In 1991 she was part of the founding team of the magazine Metamorphosen at the German Department of Heidelberg University.
After Tanja Jeschke had published the radio play How the Lion Grim Came to Africa in 1976 on what was then Süddeutscher Rundfunk, her first book for children was published in 2001 and her first volume of prose in 2003. In 2011 Tanja Jeschke published her first novel.
Tanja Jeschke is married to the author Mathias Jeschke and lives in Stuttgart . She is a member of the international artist community DAS RAD.
