Taras Fedorovych
Taras Fedorowytsch ( Ukrainian Тарас Федорович ; also Taras Trjasylo ; * late 16th - early 17th century in Tschyhyryn ; † 1639 ) was a Ukrainian Cossack who led an uprising against Poland-Lithuania in 1629 as the hetman of the unregistered Cossacks .
Life
Taras Fedorowytsch was born in Tschyhyryn as the child of a Cossack family who was probably of Tatar origin. He first appeared in 1620 as Colonel von Korsun during a campaign against the Crimean Khanate . In 1629, one year after the death of Mychajlo Doroshenko , he became the hetman of the unregistered Cossacks and appeared as an opponent of the hetman of the registered Cossacks Hryhorij Chornyj ( Грицько / Григорій Чорний ) on.
In March 1630 Fedorowytsch became the leader of the peasant and Cossack uprising against Poland after the latter tried to station Polish units in the Cossack area. In the Battle of Korsun and the Battle of Perejaslaw on May 20, 1630, which became known as the "Night of the Tartars", the rebels defeated the Polish army under the command of Stanisław Koniecpolski and Samuel Łaszcz , making Koniecpolski the Grand Hetman of the Polish Crown in June 1630 was forced to sign the Treaty of Pereyaslav of 1630.
In contrast to most of the Cossack leaders, Fedorovych was dissatisfied with the treaty and was then dismissed from the office of hetman. So he tried again to organize a riot. In 1635 he led a part of the Zaporozhye Sich across the Don River and in 1636 offered his services to the Tsar . In order to avoid tensions with Poland after the recently lost Russian-Polish War, Michael I turned down the offer. The further fate of Trjasylo is not known, according to the Cossack Chronicle, he died nine years after the uprising, i.e. in 1639.
