Tarek Ehlail (born August 31, 1981 in Homburg , Germany ) is a German director , screenwriter , producer and entrepreneur for security services.

Life

Ehlail is the son of a Palestinian and a German. In 2003 he founded the production company Sabotakt, which is mainly dedicated to working on underground projects. He also founded the Sabotakt Boxparty with Matthias Lange , a punk and martial arts event with which they also toured Europe. Since 2015 he has also been running the Solid agency, which provides protection services, security concepts and free security guards.

In 2008, Tarek Ehlail shot his cinema debut with Matthias Lange Chaostage - We Are Punks! . The film, which deals with the punk street battles of the 80s and 90s, features well-known German actors. Alec Empire and Pöbel & Gesocks wrote the soundtrack for the film .

In 2009 the Saarlandmedien sponsored Tarek Ehlail's cinema project Gegengerade - Nobody wins at Millerntor , a feature film about FC St. Pauli . Contributors included Mario Adorf , Claude-Oliver Rudolph , Moritz Bleibtreu and Fabian Busch . The film was selected in the feature film competition of the Max Ophüls Prize 2011 film festival .

In 2011, together with the electrical band Egotronic, they made the documentary Alles in Allem . The tour of the band, which was also responsible for the soundtrack of Gegengerade, was followed with the camera for two weeks. In 2012, Tarek Ehlail shot the documentary Warrior of Faith in coproduction with Saarländischer Rundfunk . The work deals with the annual International Soldiers' Pilgrimage in Lourdes . The film premiered at the Max Ophüls Preis film festival in January 2013.

Ehlail's first book, Piercing is not a crime , was published in March 2013 . The book tells 33 anecdotes from Ehlail's time as a body piercer .

In 2015 Ehlail directed the cinema feature film Volt , a science fiction drama that addresses the long-term effects of the refugee crisis .

Ehlail lives in Hamburg.
