The tariff association Luzern / Obwalden / Nidwalden , also known under the name Tarifverbund Passepartout , is a tariff association for public passenger transport in Central Switzerland . The network area is divided into 29 zones for season tickets and single tickets and extends over the cantons of Lucerne , Obwalden , Nidwalden and some municipalities in the neighboring cantons of Aargau , Bern , Schwyz , Uri and Zug . In 2016, 55,000 people had a Passepartout subscription.

history

The Passepartout tariff association was founded in 1986 and from 1988 onwards offered cross-cantonal passes. From 2002, single tickets for the so-called core zone around Lucerne were also introduced in the Lucerne agglomeration under the name Integraler Tarifverbund . As of December 13, 2009, the single ticket offer was extended to the entire area of the cantons of Lucerne, Obwalden and Nidwalden. Zone tickets could now be purchased instead of the route tickets customary at that time and the Passepartout tariff network became an integral tariff network. At the same time, the management of the tariff association was transferred from 2010 to the newly founded transport association Lucerne . The 2009 introduced division of the composite area in 78 zones for single tickets and 36 zones for subscriptions was from 14 December 2014 replaced by new timetable with a new zoning plan with 29 zones that apply to both types of tickets.

Ticket assortment

In addition to the normal single tickets for certain zones, day tickets are also offered, which are valid for the respective calendar day in these zones. There are also multi-trip tickets for both single tickets and day tickets, which are intended for occasional users and are up to 10 percent cheaper than single tickets.

All subscriptions are available as annual or monthly subscriptions on the SwissPass . In addition to the reduced junior subscription for people under 25, there is also a special subscription for dogs. A 9 a.m. subscription is also available , which is only valid from 9 a.m. on workdays. For commuters to other tariff associations, a special subscription called the module subscription is also available , which includes route subscriptions for direct transport up to 70 km away, as well as one or more network zones along the route, if desired.

Tariff features

Short-haul tickets are only available in zone 10 in the area of the Lucerne agglomeration. These are valid for a journey of up to 6 bus stops.

A separate tariff applies to tickets that are only valid within zone 10; this is higher than in the other zones. Further, zone 10 is counted as two zones when resolved in combination with other zones. In the outskirts of zone 10, long - haul tickets were therefore introduced, which are valid for selected routes for a single journey and cost as much as a ticket for 1 zone.

With the Schwyz tariff network and the A-Welle tariff network , three so-called overlap zones have been created in which both passepartout tickets and tickets from the other network are valid. These zones can only be solved in combination with another zone.
