The Tassilo-Gymnasium Simbach am Inn (TGS) is the southernmost of the high schools in the Rottal-Inn district . Currently, around 570 students are taught by around 50 teachers. The school, founded in 1948, is named after the Bavarian Duke Tassilo III.

Exchange programs

The TGS is committed to promoting student exchange programs and maintains programs with the cities:

  • Skipton , England (twin town), ninth grade
  • Tolmezzo , Italy (twin town), ninth grade
  • Budweis , Czech Republic, ninth grade
  • Wisconsin , USA, ninth grade
  • Nice, France, eighth and ninth grades

In addition, study trips to the following cities are offered for the tenth grade:

Education System

The Tassilo-Gymnasium consists of elementary, middle and upper grades (also college grades ), which so far have been divided between grades 5 to 13. In 2004 the G8 Bavaria was introduced, which in 2011 led to a double year of high school graduates.

From the 2015/16 school year until 2019, the grammar school took part in the trial of the middle level plus of the Bavarian Ministry of Education, in which, in addition to maintaining the previous middle level, an additional offer expanded the grades eight to ten by the new grade 9+ and now replaces the teaching material from three to four years. This was canceled with the reintroduction of the G9.

By the Foundation for Education Pact of Bavaria , the TGS can access multiple libraries:

Events

The TGS is committed to public appearances, e.g. B: by staging musicals and other full-length events. The performances of the choirs, bands and dance groups include the musicals Fame (2002) and Der kleine Horrorladen (2006). Every year there are performances at the (local) Christmas market, and the TGS also receives regular invitations to information events.

The musical facilities at the TGS include the lower school choir (grades 5–6), the mixed choir (7–13), the school band (accompanying the choirs), the orchestra, the brass band and the big band.

Youth research

The TGS is very committed to the research program Jugend forscht . This commitment began in 1992 and repeatedly brought in prizes at regional and national level, for example

  • Country winner 1992, 1996, 2000 and 2006
  • Regional winner 1992, 1993, 1996, 1997, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2003, 2006
  • Special prices annually, partly nationally (e.g. internships, cash prizes, information trips, etc.)

The best-known project in this context is likely to be the flood forecast work by Markus Grabmeier and Andreas Renghart, which was presented at the EXPO 2000 in Hanover as well as receiving various cash prizes totaling DM 5000. Science Minister Hans Zehetmair and the former Prime Minister Edmund Stoiber as well as the Bavarian Agriculture Minister Josef Miller viewed the work at the Simbach stand and congratulated them on their successful work.
