The coat of arms of those of Tastungen

Tastungen is the name of an old noble family in the Eichsfeld . They named themselves after the village of Tastungen between Leinefelde-Worbis and Duderstadt . They were finally wealthy in Bernterode near Heiligenstadt.

history

The knights of Tastungen had a fortified mansion in Tastungen, the castle and the remains of the fortifications are immortalized in a picture in the Bodenstein camp book. There is no verifiable evidence for Friedrich von Tastungen (1223), who allegedly came from Hungary and who is said to have built a castle on the Schwarzenstein between Flinsberg and Ascherode. In 1279 a Theodoric von Tastungen donated 2 Hufen land to the Reifenstein monastery . From the beginning of the 14th century, the gentlemen of Tastungen are often mentioned in Bernterode. In 1290 a member named himself after the village of Henricus de Bernharderode. Bernterode was their hereditary property and the masters of Tastungen also had higher and lower jurisdiction, including Roderode , which was abandoned in the Middle Ages, and Ascherode between Flinsberg and Martinfeld . They were still wealthy in numerous places in the upper area. In 1317 Heinrich von Tastungen sold the Anrode monastery a hoof from the later submerged village of Zoighe near Bickenriede . In 1401 Heinrich von Tastungen placed himself under the protection of the Mainz electors with all his possessions ; they were now feudal men of the electors until the noble family died out. They also had half of the jurisdiction over the community of Dieterode . Martin von Tastungen acquired a feudal property in large exchanges , which was enfeoffed by the dukes of Braunschweig.

During the Peasants' War in 1525 Christoph von Tastungen was pressured by farmers from the area to pick up burdens and forced labor, and the manor was damaged. At the beginning of the 18th century, Siegfried von Tastungen built today's manor building in Bernterode. After the death of Friedrich, the last representative of those from Tastungen, the property of Kurmainz was confiscated and Johann Friedrich Karl Maximilian von Ostein was enfeoffed with the goods.
