Tatjana Besson , b. Galler (* 1961 in Eisleben ), is a German bassist, singer and songwriter in several GDR underground bands (and bands that existed beyond the GDR) in the field of punk and blues (rock). She is one of the very few active and nationally known musicians of these scenes in the GDR.

Life

Tatjana Besson learned the trade of hat maker. She then studied dentistry at the Humboldt University in East Berlin from the early eighties , but did not finish her studies. Since then she has been working full-time in the music industry. She was temporarily the manager of the GDR band Freygang and acted as a musician herself.

Besson is a co-founder of the anarchist association Autonome Aktion WYDOKS , founded in 1990 , for which she worked with like-minded people like the Feeling B-punk singer Aljoscha Rompe , the Freygang musician Andre Greiner-Pol and the Feeling B-keyboardist Christian Flake Lorenz ( today Rammstein ) ran for elections in the GDR.

In January 1990 Besson took part in the occupation of a house at Rosenthaler Strasse 68 in Berlin- Mitte. There the culture house Im Eimer was founded, which contained rehearsal and concert rooms. Her band colleagues from Die Firma and the musicians from the bands Freygang , Ichfunktion and their friends also took part in this line-up . The bands Blind Passengers , In Extremo , Rammstein , Tanzwut and Sandow also rehearsed and / or lived there . The gatefold cover of the 1990 split LP with Freygang and the ego function The Last Days of Pompeii documents the activities in the bucket with photos .

At the beginning of the 1990s it became known that both Besson and her Die-Firma band colleague Frank Trötsch Tröger were unofficial employees of the Ministry for State Security of the GDR (the Stasi ).

Besson has been working as a curative educator since around 2000. She is still musically active and lives in Berlin.

Tatjana Besson is the mother of the model and actor Merlin Esra Besson, who was born in 1992. His father is the former Die-Firma band colleague and today's Rammstein guitarist Richard Kruspe .

music

Since 1983 - the year the band - played Tatjana Besson bass and sang in the first as company Trötsch based punk band The Company . In their lyrics, the band represents anarchist positions that are critical of the GDR. Due to the intensive and GDR-wide live performances in the 80s, the band became known in the GDR in the underground scene. Because of the impossibility of issuing records, the band sold self-made cassettes as sound carriers. Along with Mita Schamal and Jana Schlosser from the punk band Namenlos , which was founded at the same time, Besson is one of the few women who appeared as musicians in the GDR punk scene . In the band Die Firma she also played with today's Rammstein musicians Christoph Schneider , Paul Landers and Richard Kruspe .

In addition to the company , Besson took part in music projects such as Tacheles , which was created in connection with the Kunsthaus Tacheles on Oranienburger Strasse in Berlin, at Kalabatek Exzek , Egon Kenner Band (Egon Kenner was guitarist in the band Freygang since 1984 ), Kleinstezelle , Magdalene Keibel combo .

Tatjana Besson's stage presence is characterized by her deep and sometimes rough voice and - for punk standards - a relatively static, dignified-looking attitude. Also characteristic are dark, sometimes long flowing clothes, their red curly mane and the wearing of hats.

The company separated in 1993, and Besson has been playing bass at Freygang ever since .

In parallel to her activities at Freygang, Tatjana Besson has been running the lyric and music project kleinste zelle together with Helmar Kreysig since the late 1990s . In addition to bass guitar, she also plays the flute and synthesizer there. Helmar Kreysig plays guitar, drum machine, synthesizer and sings. Besson sings or recites poetic texts that are both written by himself and by poets and musicians such as Gottfried Benn or Johnny Cash .
