It is the second and last case of Inspector Brandenburg, played by Horst Bollmann and the 218th crime scene episode in total. Brandenburg has to clear up the murder of a beer tent operator and another murder of a suspect.

action

The beer tent operator at the Garching Volksfest, Fritz Schweikert, is left in the afternoon by his partner Edith Wagner. In the evening, masked bar waiter Ronny Tiefenbacher and his brother-in-law Rudi Kirchler attacked him in his caravan, the latter is standing outside Schmiere while Ronny Schweikert is robbing. The two need the money to open their own restaurant, Ronny reports to Rudi in shock that something went wrong during the robbery. Meanwhile, Brandenburg is under pressure to justify his superiors because the bank robber Max Vogt fell to his death while trying to escape from a house storm led by Brandenburg. While the conversation was still going on, Brandenburg was called to Fritz Schweikert's caravan, in which he was found shot. Brandenburg interrogates Schweikert's partner Xaver Heindl, who claims to have visited Schweikert, whose caravan was locked and inside he found the body of his partner. Schweikert had gone into the caravan hours earlier with the daily income and wanted to have his peace. Rudi, who has family and a lot of money worries, shows Rita some of the booty and assures her that he would have earned the money legally.

After evaluating the traces, Brandenburg informs Heindl that he suspects the perpetrator, who must have known himself very well, to be among his employees. Brandenburg then seeks out Edith Wagner and informs her of the death of her partner. She reacts in shock, but tells Brandenburg nothing about the argument and separation the day before. Brandenburg speaks to her about Schweikert's missing weapon, which he has kept in the caravan, allegedly she doesn't know anything about its whereabouts. The toilet lady from Schweikert's and Heindl's tent tells Luginger that she saw a young man in front of Schweikert's caravan on the evening of the crime, who had "lounged around" there, the man had delivered a piano, meanwhile Brandenburg learns from Heindl about Schweikert's arguments with Edith. Meanwhile, Karl Lanz, a former work colleague of Ronny, learns of Schweikert's murder through his wife. Lanz's wife remembers that Ronny once suggested that he wanted to rob Schweikert, as he always won against Ronny at poker. The autopsy and trace evaluation show that Schweikert was killed with a heart shot, a second shot hit the beer barrel in the caravan. The officials find out that Rudi Kirchler was the wanted piano player, meanwhile Ronny assures his friend that he did not kill Schweikert. Karl goes to Ronny and tells him that he saw him in the Schweikerts beer tent on the evening of the crime, Ronny is clueless.

Brandenburg and his assistants have meanwhile determined on the basis of a delivery note that the piano supplier was Rudi Kirchler, who has a previous conviction for burglary and is only on probation, his accomplice at the time was Ronny Tiefenbacher, who could not be proven. At that time Tiefenbacher had worked as a bar waiter at Schweikert. In Ronny's shed Rudi is knocked down by a stranger in the evening, Rudi does not survive the blow, Ronny finds his dead brother-in-law shortly afterwards. Ronny loads Rudi's body into his trunk and wants to put it somewhere else, but the body is discovered in a rear-end collision with a police car. Ronny assures Brandenburg that he did not kill his friend, a note from Rudi, which the officers found at Ronny, indicates that Rudi knew about the manhunt against her and wanted to meet Ronny in the shed. The officials suspect that he and Ronny attacked Schweikert. Brandenburg accuses him of having eliminated his accomplice because he knew that he had killed Schweikert. Ronny admits to the attack and that Rudi Schmiere confessed, but he assures that he is not Schweikert's murderer. The loot was stolen from the shed by a stranger. He took Schweikert's weapon from him in the trailer, but left it there after the attack. Brandenburg does not leave the Vogt case in peace either, which is still causing him trouble. On a photo found near Vogt's body, he recognizes Edith Wagner, who had rented the apartment in which Vogt was hiding.

Brandenburg learns from Schweikert's lawyer that he held 85% and Heindl only 15% of the company shares. After Schweikert's death, the company now belongs to Heindl. In addition, Schweikert had life insurance in the amount of DM 55,000 in favor of Edith Wagner. Santini finds the broken lock in Ronny's shed, this proves that there was a third person in the shed and that Ronny's version is probably correct. Ronny finally remembers that Karl Lanz had spoken to him about the attack, he also knew from previous break-ins that Ronny had hidden his loot in the shed at that time. Brandenburg arrested Lanz, and the officers found the loot in his apartment. Brandenburg remembers that the second shot had brushed the beer barrel in Schweikert's caravan, the perpetrator had sealed the barrel with chewing gum, but only about two hours after the crime, the amount of beer spilled proves this in a laboratory test. The officers found the weapon, Brandenburg also found out that Schweikert had anonymously betrayed Max Vogt to the police. Brandenburg seeks out Edith, who admits that she was Vogt's helper and that she hid the booty from his bank robbery, she hands over the money to Brandenburg. Schweikert knew about it and wanted to blackmail Vogt and Edith into handing them over the booty, he had betrayed Vogt because they would not allow themselves to be blackmailed and wanted to disappear with the booty. Edith, however, denies the murder. The officers go to Heindl, only he can have sealed the barrel after the amount of beer that had leaked out. Heindl confesses and is arrested.
