action

Three men robbed a money transport in Hamburg. Two of them, the Dutch former army pilot Piet Bruges and the German Helmut Rostock, escaped across the German-Dutch border. The third, Riesmann, was caught by Trimmel and, during the interrogation, gives the inspector REM as the meeting point where the three of them have arranged to meet. At first the investigators believe in Remagen, Remscheid or Nigeria, where Piet fought as a mercenary in the Biafra war .

In fact, REM is on the coast near Amsterdam. After separating at the border, Helmut and Piet meet at the REM offshore structure that used to belong to a pirate TV station . They are waiting for their old British mercenary comrades to pick them up. Suddenly a couple of tourists appear on the platform and are taken hostage by the two of them. There is an argument between Piet and Helmut, because the male hostage managed to escape after the woman had set off an emergency signal with the flare gun.

Trimmel travels to Amsterdam and contacts the local police. After the crew of the police helicopter had looked around there and discovered Piet, the hostage-takers made contact with the police. A cat and mouse game breaks out between the police and each other. Your English friends have turned back due to the changed situation. Piet asked for a helicopter and 1 million guilders , Helmut also asked Riesmann. He overpowers Piet, whom he no longer trusts. In Piet's former barracks, Trimmel and his colleagues learn how he got his name in the tabloid press. In a bet, Piet managed to steal tulips from the royal garden by helicopter and was then dishonorably dismissed . Then he hired himself as a mercenary .

When Riesmann is handed over to them, he shoots Helmut with Piet's gun because he feels cheated by him. Piet is no longer convinced of his plan and tries to escape with the escape helicopter and the woman. Riesmann, disarmed by Piet, secretly appropriated the helicopter's flare gun when he was reloading the money for Piet there. When Piet and the woman sit in the helicopter and want to leave Riesmann behind, he shoots Piet. His jacket catches fire and the police snipers shoot the staggering hostage taker. Riesmann is urged by them to surrender.
