The Teplá (German Tepl ) is a river in northwestern Bohemia in the Czech Republic .
It rises in the moorland on the northern slope of the Podhornberg at an altitude of 784 meters and shortly afterwards flows into the ninety-hectare Podhora dam . After leaving it flows through the thirty hectare Bethlehem pond, which was created by monastery brothers of the Teplá Monastery in the 15th century. Before the city Teplá (Teplá) it turns sharply northwards from, leaving the mountainous area and flows below Pauten ( Poutnov ) through romantic gorges to Bečov ( Bečov nad Teplou ). In Březová it flows through the dam Březová to thereafter in a popular for canoeing water sports river bed in the direction of Carlsbad ( Karlovy to tosen). There the canalized Teplá flows into the Eger (Ohře) river.
The river became known among water sports enthusiasts through the 2001 World Cup.
