Teresa Stich-Randall (born December 24, 1927 in West Hartford , Connecticut , † July 17, 2007 in Vienna ) was an American opera singer ( soprano ).

Life

At the age of 15, she studied at the Columbia School of Music. In 1962 she was the first American woman to receive the title of Austrian Chamber Singer. On May 26, 1972, she said goodbye to the Vienna State Opera with the title role from Ariadne auf Naxos .

Stich-Randall died in Vienna at the age of 79. Her grave is located in the Simmering Fire Hall in Vienna (Department 2, Ring 3, Group 1, Number 7) and is one of the grave sites dedicated to honor or taken into custody of the City of Vienna.
