The Ternan is a passenger and car ferry operated by Strandfaraskip Landsins in the Faroe Islands .

history

The ferry was built under construction number 24 at the Torshavnar Skipasmidja shipyard in Tórshavn . The keel was laid in July 1978. The ship was completed in June 1980.

Route and travel time

The Ternan operates on Route 90 between Tórshavn and Nólsoy . The crossing takes 20 minutes.

Technical specifications

The ship is powered by two four-stroke - six-cylinder - diesel engines of the manufacturer Deutz : driven (type SBV 6M 628). The motors act on two variable pitch propellers via reduction gears . The ship has a bow thruster driven by a Deutz engine (type: SBA 8M 816) . Two diesel generators are available for the power supply. An emergency generator was also installed.
