history

Location of Teuritz in Lucka

The village was first mentioned in a document in 1416. The place name is of Sorbian origin. The place, now merged with Lucka, was once only separated from the city by the “Altenburger Tor”. The location today includes the streets "Grenzgasse" and "Teuritzer Straße". The "Altenburger Straße" formed the border to Lucka.

Teuritz belonged to the Wettin office of Altenburg , which was under the sovereignty of the following Ernestine duchies from the 16th century due to several divisions in the course of its existence : Duchy of Saxony (1554 to 1572), Duchy of Saxony-Weimar (1572 to 1603), Duchy of Saxony-Altenburg (1603 to 1672), Duchy of Saxony-Gotha-Altenburg (1672 to 1826).

The Teuritz manor, on the other hand, was on Electoral Saxon or royal Saxon territory ( Zeitz office of the Naumburg-Zeitz bishopric ) and was under his suzerainty. It was acquired by Wolf von Hagenest in 1526 and made a manor after the manor was relocated to Teuritz. Until the end of the 18th century, the manor was inherited or loaned by the family. After that, until the land reform and expropriation in 1945, the owners and tenants of the property changed. The manor, which, like the nearby established location Hagenest the noble family owned an exclave naumburgischen pin-to Saxon Office Zeitz, occurred in the assignment of the Office Zeitz by the Congress of Vienna in 1815, not like most of the Office of Prussia , but remained in the UK Saxony and was assigned to the Borna office .

When the Ernestine duchies were reorganized in 1826, the town of Teuritz became part of the Duchy of Saxony-Altenburg. After the administrative reform in the duchy, the Altenburg part of Teuritz belonged to the eastern district (until 1900) and to the Altenburg district office (from 1900). He was judicially assigned to the Altenburg District Court from 1879 and to the Meuselwitz District Court from 1906 .

The fact that the royal Saxon manor Teuritz also shared corridors with Lucka and that the city increasingly exerted economic, ecclesiastical and cultural influence on Teuritz led to the entire town of Teuritz being incorporated into Lucka on April 1, 1914 after long negotiations . Together with the city, Teuritz belonged to the Free State of Saxony-Altenburg from 1918 , which was added to the State of Thuringia in 1920. In 1922 the place came with Lucka to the Altenburg district and in 1952 to the Altenburg district in the Leipzig district . Between 1959 and 1962 the Schleenhain opencast mine devastated the area east of Teuritz.

When the Free State of Thuringia was re-established in 1990, Teuritz became Thuringian again as a district of Lucka with the Altenburg district and has been part of the Altenburger Land district since 1994.
