Tharsitius Senner

Johann Tharsitius Senner OFM (also Juan Tarsicio Senner ; born August 3, 1895 in Musau , Tyrol , Austria; † April 28, 1985 in Reutte , Tyrol) was a Roman Catholic clergyman and bishop of Cochabamba in Bolivia .

Life

Johann Senner joined the Franciscan order and was given the name Tharsitius. On November 16, 1919, he received the sacrament of ordination and worked as a missionary in Bolivia.

On February 25, 1942, Pope Pius XII appointed him . as Vicar Apostolic of Chiquitos and Titular Bishop of Rusadus . The Apostolic Nuncio in Bolivia, Archbishop Egidio Lari , donated him episcopal ordination on June 29 of the same year. Co- consecrators were his predecessor Berthold Bühl OFM and the Bishop of Santa Cruz de la Sierra , Augustin Arce Mostajo .

In 1948 he gave up the leadership of the Apostolic Vicariate and was appointed auxiliary bishop in Sucre . On October 26, 1951, Pope Pius XII appointed him. to the Bishop of Cochabamba .

He participated in all four sessions of the Second Vatican Council as a council father.

On August 19, 1965, Pope Paul VI took resigned as bishop of Cochabamba and appointed him titular bishop of Equizetum . Due to the changed allocation guidelines, he renounced the titular seat on January 23, 1976.

From 1968 until his death he lived in the Franciscan monastery in Reutte .
