Berthold Buhl

Franz Berthold Bühl OFM (also Bertoldo Bühl ; born October 4, 1885 in Erlenbach ; † April 19, 1968 ) was a German religious and Roman Catholic bishop of Oruro in Bolivia .

Life

Franz Bühl joined the Franciscan Order and was given the name Berthold. On June 16, 1909, he received the sacrament of ordination and worked as a missionary in Bolivia.

On January 3, 1931, Pope Pius XI appointed him . as the first Vicar Apostolic of the Apostolic Vicariate Chiquitos established a year earlier and as Titular Bishop of Cartennae . The Apostolic Nuncio in Bolivia, Archbishop Carlo Chiarlo , donated him the episcopal ordination on March 1st of the same year. Co- consecrators were the Bishop of La Paz , Auguste Sieffert CSsR , and the Bishop of Potosí , Cleto Loayza Gumiel .

On November 21, 1942, Pope Pius XII appointed him . the Apostolic Administrator of the Diocese of Cochabamba , which he during the nine-year Sedisvakanz managed. On October 26, 1951 he was by Pope Pius XII. appointed Bishop of Oruro . He resigned from this office on June 17, 1953 and was appointed titular bishop of Methone .

He participated in the first three sessions of the Second Vatican Council as a council father.

In his hometown of Erlenbach he was honored with the naming of the parish home, which was inaugurated in 1967, as the Berthold-Bühl-Heim.
