Cleto Loayza Gumiel

Cleto Loayza Gumiel (born April 26, 1888 in Sucre , Bolivia , † December 30, 1968 ) was a Roman Catholic clergyman and the first bishop of Potosí .

Life

Cleto Loayza Gumiel received on 3 March 1911, the sacrament of Holy Orders .

Pope Pius XI appointed him on July 9, 1924 as the first bishop of the two days earlier established Diocese of Potosí . The Apostolic Nuncio in Venezuela , Archbishop Filippo Cortesi , donated him episcopal ordination on March 15 of the following year ; Co- consecrator was the Archbishop of Sucre , Luigi Francesco Pierini, OFM .

He attended the first session of the Second Vatican Council as a council father.
