Production and broadcast
Fox Kids struggled with falling audience numbers in the late 1990s. Your competitors ABC , The WB and Nickelodeon made competition for the station. In order to catch up in the ratings, people went back to the cartoon and real film series that made up the station in the early and mid-1990s, namely X-Men and Power Rangers . Marvel Comics and Fox then created an Avengers show that featured a popular 1980s Avengers team. The plan was to focus on the pressure that a young team without the stars Iron Man , Thor and Captain America would suffer. At the same time, the Avengers should be given a new face.
The series aired on Saturday morning cartoons from October 30, 1999 . The last episode aired on February 26, 2000, after which the series was discontinued. A total of 13 episodes were produced. Initially, a second season was planned, but Fox Kids decided not to commission it. Viewership was the highest of the Fox Kids Saturday morning cartoons, but it fell short of expectations. Older comic fans in particular complained about the absence of the three members, Captain America, Thor and Iron Man.
