The Barber - The secret of Revelstoke (OT: The Barber ) is a Canadian - British thriller by Michael Bafaro from the year 2001 .

action

Dexter Miles , a hairdresser, lives in Revelstoke , a small, inhospitable town in Alaska . During the polar night , just before Christmas, the body of Lucy Waters, a local woman, is found there. Miles is upset when he hears about it. Acting as the narrator, he talks about psychopaths and cold-blooded, unscrupulous serial killers .

Lucy's jealous husband is arrested as a suspect, but then released because the fingerprints do not match. In the course of the investigation, Lucy's buyability for money comes to light. Police chief Vance Corgan is among her numerous lovers.

The FBI -Agent Crawley comes to take over the city to the investigation. More murders are committed. Local residents accuse Chief Corgan, who suffers from personal problems, of incompetence. Corgan is removed from his post. More FBI agents are coming to town. The FBI believes the perpetrator is the same serial killer who was wanted in another city decades ago.

Corgan detects the real culprit through unauthorized investigations by comparing fingerprints on the corpses with the distinctive fingerprint on a drinking glass, a Christmas present from the hairdresser. He accuses Miles, but nobody takes him seriously. He is shot from behind by Cecil Waters, the unfortunate widower, because everyone thinks he is the murderer. A DNA examination of hair found at the scene had indicated Corgan as the perpetrator. Nobody suspects that the hairdresser left the wrong track. The autopsy doctor who uses the fingerprints to determine Corgan's innocence is stabbed by Miles.

Miles sells the barber shop to retire and move away. FBI agent Crawley, like everyone else, has no suspicion of him when he leaves town unmolested.
