From 1971 the television series ran on ZDF . In addition to the spin-off An Lovely Family (1977) , four longer television films were made under the title The Bradys from 1981, and the films Die Brady Family and The Brady Family 2 with different casts in 1995 and 1996 .

action

The series showed the idealized image of a medium-sized American blended family in the early 1970s:

Mike Brady, a widowed architect with sons Greg, Peter and Bobby, marries Carol Martin (née Tyler) with daughters Marcia, Jan and Cindy. The daughters take the Brady surname. The new family, including Mike's housekeeper Alice Nelson, who has advice on everything, move to a new suburban Los Angeles home designed by Mike.

The Bradys must first learn to cope with the new family circumstances. The individual episodes mostly deal with typical childhood problems such as difficult dates, rivalries and family chatter.

background

The series creator, Sherwood Schwartz , was inspired to write a series about a blended family in 1966 by reports of rising divorce rates . However, the television producers found this idea too risky. In 1968 the popular film, yours, mine, ours came out, which paved the way for the idea. Schwartz originally wanted Carol to be divorced, but the broadcaster opposed it. So they came up with a compromise that the circumstances about the end of Carol's first marriage should not be mentioned.

The family dog with the role name Tiger was run over by a delivery truck on the studio grounds while filming in 1971.
