reception

Reviews

The film won over 90 percent of all Rotten Tomatoes critics .

Ulrich Sonnenschein from epd Film writes that the two main actors Michael Angelo Covino and Kyle Marvin were able to get out of their familiarity, as they are linked by a real friendship, develop the story authentically and then ironize it with numerous refractions. Much of this cinema debut was successful, its snippy tone, the crude characters and its realistic, everyday setting as the backdrop to high-rising emotions, according to Sonnenschein. But then the film might want too much after all, and the seriousness of a relationship tragedy turns into slapstick too quickly, with neither finding a real balance. Nevertheless, there is a lot to suggest that Michael Angelo Covino will still find his own tone.
