Judith Godrèche (born March 23, 1972 in Paris ; actually Judith Goldreich ) is a French actress .

Life

Godrèche, born in Judith Goldreich, was born in 1972 in Paris as the daughter of two psychoanalysts . At a young age she modeled for a youth magazine and advertised a Japanese chocolate manufacturer. At the age of 13 she played her first film role as the daughter of Claudia Cardinale in Nadine Trintignant's film drama The Family Pyramid (1985). For her starring role in The Disenchanted (1990) she received in 1991 a nomination for the French film award César as Most Promising Actress . In the same year she was on the jury of the Berlin International Film Festival .

In 1996 she starred in Patrice Leconte's award-winning period film Ridicule - On the Ridiculousness of Appearance as the self-confident daughter of Jean Rochefort alongside Charles Berling and Fanny Ardant . She became known to a wider international audience in 1998 when she played the unhappy lover of King Louis XIV at the side of Leonardo DiCaprio in the literary film The Man in the Iron Mask . For her acting performances in L'auberge espagnole (2002) and France boutique (2003) she was nominated for the César as best supporting actress. In François Ozone's successful comedy Das Schmuckstück (2010) she was featured alongside Catherine Deneuve and Gérard Depardieu .

In the course of her career she was also on the theater stage, for example in Paris in 1996 for Edward Albee's Three Great Women , and in front of the television camera, as in 1997 for a television adaptation of Stendhal's Red and Black . In 2010 she made her directorial debut with Toutes les filles pleurent .

From 1998 to 2002 she was married to the comedian and director Dany Boon , whom she met while filming Love at the Sexest Look . The marriage resulted in a son (* 1999). She has lived with the director Maurice Barthélémy since 2004. A daughter was born on April 19, 2005.
